Burnout is defined as a state of emotional and physical exhaustion. We can arrive there after a steady diet of stress and frustration over a long period of time. “A” type personalities are susceptible to burnout because of competitiveness, drive, and work obsession. Anyone who thinks that everything to be done, has to be by their own hand (not delegated) can experience burnout. Is this the inevitable destination of people today, even Christ followers? The Bible holds the solution to this energy and joy draining dilemma. Jesus Himself got away for prayer and refreshing in the Holy Spirit. He stayed connected to His Father and sought His will. Without time to connect with God, our life-giving source, productivity and passion fade. Not every task is ours. It is in this connected relationship with God that we are able to identify our appointed tasks. These are the tasks God will equip us to handle.
Matthew 11: 28-30 Come to me , all who are weary and heavy laden , and I will give you rest.
